About Dickson Electorate

Name Derivation:
Named after Sir James
Robert Dickson (1832-1901), a leading advocate
of Federation. He was Queensland Premier from
1898 until 1899 and Minister for Defence in the
first Federal Ministry.
Area and Location Description:
Covering an area of approximately 4649sq km to the north and west of the Brisbane City limits, Dickson takes in the majority of the old Pine Rivers and Esk Shires.
The main suburbs in Pine Rivers Shire include; Albany Creek, Arana Hills, Bray Park, Brendale, Cashmere, Dayboro, Eatons Hill, Everton Hills, Ferny Hills, Joyner, Lawnton, Petrie, Samford Valley and Strathpine. The main suburbs in Esk Shire include; Coominya, Esk, Fernvale, Glamorganvale, Harlin, Lowood, Minden, Moore and Toogoolawah.
